IIMB has world-class infrastructure that facilitates excellence in teaching, research, consulting and other professional activities.

Located in India’s high technology capital, IIMB is in close proximity to some of the leading corporate houses in the country, ranging from information technology to consumer product companies, giving it the added advantage of integrating classroom knowledge with practical experience.

Established in 1973, the Institute has since then built on its base of highly accomplished faculty, world-class infrastructure and motivated student body to emerge as one of the premier institutes for management education and research, promoting managerial excellence in the country. IIMB strives to achieve excellence through partnerships with industry, and leading academic institutions, the world over. IIMB’s mission is to ‘build leaders through holistic, transformative and innovative education’.

The long-duration post graduate programmes of the Institute comprise the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM); the one year full-time Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP), the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) and the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP). All these programmes are very highly rated and IIMB alumni occupy senior managerial and academic positions around the world.

Innovation and research at the institute have been given a fillip with the establishment of Centres of Excellence in various areas ranging from Public Policy, Corporate Governance to Financial Markets and Risk Management. Two new research labs, one for Big Data and another for Behavioural Research, have been set up recently. The N.S. Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning is a catalyst for entrepreneurial activity and a well-known incubation centre for early start-up ventures.

IIMB was re-accredited by the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) for a further period of five years in 2016. The five-year accreditation, highest that EQUIS confers, is a testimony to the fact that the evaluating team was confident about IIMB’s ability to sustain its efforts undertaken to achieve excellent standards in education, internationalization and research. EQUIS is a global school accreditation system run by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) that specializes in higher education institutions of management and business administration. The fundamental objective of EQUIS, linked to the mission of EFMD, is to raise the standard of management education worldwide. IIMB also has deep engagements with international networks, such as the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), which includes 29 eminent business schools around the world and Partnership in International Management (PIM), a consortium of more than 60 leading international business schools around the world. GNAM is convened by Yale University and includes INSEAD, London School of Economics and Fudan University among others. In November 2015, IIMB hosted the Deans and Directors of the Global Network schools.
Being an active participant in the GNAM network, IIMB hosts Global Network Weeks (GNWs) in the months of March and October every year when international students from partner schools visit IIMB. The GNWs feature sessions by eminent faculty, guest speakers from the industry coupled with company visits. Likewise, several IIMB students enroll for the Global Network Weeks conducted around the world. IIMB faculty have also offered Small Network Open Courses (SNOC) to the GNAM partner schools. The US-based Academy of International Business, which is the world’s premier professional association for international business faculty, for the first time, held its Annual Meeting in India in June 2015 at IIM Bangalore.

Recognizing the tremendous power of disruptive technology, IIM Bangalore became the first IIM to partner with the world’s most respected Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform, the Harvard-MIT joint venture, edX.
IIMB has offered 26 unique Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on the edX platform with a total enrolment of 4.5 lakh global learners. IIM Bangalore has recently topped the list of best management institutes in the ‘India Ranking 2016’ – the first-ever national ranking of universities by the Government. The ‘India Ranking 2016’, prepared by MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), rated IIM Bangalore as the ‘Best Management Institute’ in India. All 122 centrally funded institutions, including central universities, IITS and IIMs, participated in the ranking. The survey listed top 10 universities, and engineering, management and pharmaceutical institutes of the country.

IIM Bangalore is also mentoring a new IIM at Visakhapatnam which started its operations in September, 2015. IIM Bangalore’s staff, faculty, students and alumni contributed significantly to building this new Institute with solid foundations, one that from the outset has the quality and feel worthy of an IIM.

A feature that sets apart IIMB from other B-schools is the carefully selected mix of students with diversity as a stated objective so that students can leverage from each other’s experience in addition to theoretical studies in the classroom, thereby creating a truly enriching learning experience. IIMB also has the largest Student Exchange Programme amongst all management schools in India with several partner universities across North America, Europe and Australia. As the global business scenario gets increasingly complex and dynamic, IIMB prepares students to manage and lead in such dynamic business situations by providing a diverse and challenging environment where they can learn, grow and emerge, ready to lead and inspire.
