On Wednesday, the State School Education Department had proposed to the State Disaster Management Authority to take a final decision. A formal announcement has been made after approval by the authority. Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had said that her priority is to ensure the health and safety of the students. Significantly, Gaikwad had welcomed the Centre's decision to cancel the CBSE Class 12 exams.
Due to the Corona epidemic, it has been decided to cancel the 12th examinations of Maharashtra Board. The Maharashtra government on Wednesday decided to cancel the 12th examinations of the Maharashtra Board. The decision was placed before the State Disaster Management Authority by the Maharashtra cabinet for formal orders, which has been approved. Disaster Management Minister Vijay Wadettiwar in the Maharashtra government said that due to the corona virus, the Maharashtra Board has decided to cancel the 12th examinations.
Every year around 15 lakh students appear in the class 12th examination in Maharashtra. Earlier, the Maharashtra government has decided to cancel the class 10th board examinations due to the COVID-19 pandemic and prepare the results of students based on their performance in class 9th and 10th.
After the Center on Tuesday decided to cancel the CBSE examinations, several states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh have also decided to cancel the Class 12 board examinations.
In Maharashtra, the 12th class examination was to start from 23 April and the 10th examination from 29 April but they were postponed due to the increasing corona infection.
